Drone footage from the Galapagos Islands shows an oil spill.

Authorities took fast action, erecting ocean barriers and closing beaches and tourist attractions on the Ecuadorian island to contain the spill's impact.

"We have proceeded to temporarily close all visiting sites of the National Park, such as the Playa de la Estacion and La Ratonera beaches, after reviewing the gasoline dispersion in the Academia Bay area," stated Galapagos National Park Surrogate Director Jenifer Suarez.

Employees at the park utilized a biodegradable dispersant to control the oil spread across the water, as well as cloth towels to absorb the oil.

Ecuador has yet to assess the impact of the oil leak on the Galapagos ecology.
